With a new season of swimming and diving about to begin, some new arrivals will look to boost a Huskies squad that has finished in 4th place at the CAA Championships each of the last two seasons.
The divers will have their work cut out for them with the graduation of CAA champion Erin Murphy. Senior Anelise Kim will have a chance to keep the 1 meter diving title on Huntington Ave, as she finished 4th place last year. New to the team are freshmen Kailyn Aquino and Tyler Ostrom.
The swimmers will look to make up for the loss of 1650 Free record holder Emily Gjertsen. Bella Busconi will play a key role as she will try to improve upon her 9th place finish last year. However, a potential key contributor will be freshman Abigail Gowern, whose personal best time of 16:43.37 is already only 5 seconds off the school record.

The Huskies host an intrasquad meet on Saturday, September 20, followed by their season opener vs Vermont on October 4.
Women’s Soccer
The Huskies played to their 3rd draw of the season in their only match this week. Continuing to be a bright spot for the squad is Claire Murray, who already has 4 goals on the season.
September 11: Northeastern 2, Vermont 2
Despite being outshot 12-2 over the first 52 minutes, Northeastern held a 2-0 lead early in the second half with goals from Lauren Ahles and Claire Murray.
The Catamounts finally broke through in the final minutes, with two goals separated by only a minute to even the score.
Field Hockey
The Huskies experienced their first taste of adversity as they dropped consecutive games while only scoring 2 goals across 120 minutes.
September 12: Northeastern 2, New Hampshire 6
A scoreless game through the first 19 minutes quickly got out of hand as the Wildcats netted 4 straight goals to put the game out of reach.
The Huskies showed some fight with two 4th-period goals, including the first of the career for Helen Baldy.
September 14: Northeastern 0, Ohio State 2
The Huskies held their own against the #12 Ohio State Buckeyes, but they struggled to generate offense, getting outshot 17-2.
Arabella Loveridge turned in a strong performance with 8 saves.
Volleyball
The Huskies will likely be looking to quickly forget their trek through Connecticut, during which they were only able to muster a single set win across three matches.
September 12: Northeastern 1, Fairfield 3
Northeastern dropped the first two sets with little fanfare, as they struggled to win points on their own service.
Things changed slightly in set #3, as they were able to extend their lead to 16-11. However, they had to hold on for dear life as the Stags battled back and pushed the set into win-by-two territory.
The Huskies sustained some of the momentum from set #3 as they held a 21-18 lead in set #4, but some costly mistakes allowed Fairfield to steal the set and win the match.
September 13: Northeastern 0, Yale 3
The Yale Bulldogs left little doubt about the outcome of this match, as they played extremely clean volleyball, only committing 4 errors (to the Huskies’ 20).
Northeastern’s largest lead came at 5-4 in the second set.
September 14: Northeastern 0, UConn 3
A hotly contested first set saw the Northeastern Huskies lead as late as 17-16 before a couple untimely errors swung the outcome.
More of the same followed in the next two sets, as Northeastern kept close with the Huskies of UConn, but weren’t able to score points in important moments. While much more competitive than their prior 3-0 loss, Northeastern suffered the same fate as their other two matches in Connecticut.
Men’s Soccer
The Huskies put a stop to a three-game losing skid with their first conference victory of the season.
“Our record doesn’t really indicate who we are,” Head Coach Jeremy Bonomo said after the match. He also indicated that he expects the effort against Monmouth to carry forward into future conference matchups.
September 13: Northeastern 2, Monmouth 1
Neil Devnani scored his first career goal to open the scoring. It was the first time all season the Huskies scored first.
Morris Matthews doubled the lead with a long-distance rocket near the end of the first half.
The Hawks found the back of the net late in the second half, but the Huskies held on to the win in front of a strong performance from Tobias Jahn.
